About the Item

SMOOTH DOUBLE-FINISH SCULPTURAL REVERSE-CALABASH SMOKING PIPE

This surprising sculptural pipe expresses the new shape and form of Reverse-Calabash system. The pipe is composed of two separate horn shape chambers, which are linked with a briar cylinder together. The Tobacco Chamber has a nice bridge in front and offers a dark-reddish color, while the second Chamber has a bright staining. This is the first time that an artisan uses this new technique to combine to separate briar with different texture and color together. As you can see, the result is some thing beyond the imagination "A double finish Reverse Calabash sculptural pipe". Charming bird-eye finish around the second Chamber makes beautiful harmony with tight-lines of briar. Moreover, Kotlyar used a nice Walrus Tusk ring on the Shank to complete his nice creation. The pipe is a self-standing example and has three standpoints at the bottom. Tobacco Chamber narrows down from top to down and mixed with the first stand in front of the pipe. The second Chamber is a cylinder-formed, which ends with two standpoints.

About the Artist

Peter Kotlyar was born (1973) and raised in Vladivostok city, Russia. The passion of carving the pipe was in his soul and soon he was completely fascinated by the variety of the shapes and systems. When he bough his first pipe and smoke it he was just thinking he could carve a pipe for himself and by his hands. The fist work was not perfect but very promising for him. Soon he carves more and more until the time that he became a master. He mostly learned from his mistakes and now his pipe are placed all around the world. " I am making pipes for my soul and not for the commerce" he said. He is carving his pipes with the briar from Spain and Sardinia, for the mouthpieces he uses the German ebonite and cumberland. He mostly inserts some antique materials in his smoking pipes and in this case he has his own unique way and technique to express his feeling during carving.
